Representation of Violence in the Visual Arts and Media

The course examines various types of the representations of violence in the visual arts and media, for example, paintings, sculptures, photography, television programmes, computer games, medical illustrations, documentaries, feature films and music videos. The representation and experience of violence are analysed and interpreted from historical, psychological, philosophical and intermedia perspectives, as well as in historical and current social contexts.

The course is an optional course in the programme Master in Visual Culture
