Introduction to Contemporary Latin America
The course aims to give the student an introduction to the study of the various ideological currents that exist in contemporary Latin America. These currents will be studied in an historical context, including economic, cultural and political aspects. Emphasis will be put on important events and personalities, such as the immigration boom of the beginning of the 20th century, the Cuban Revolution and Che Guevara, the political turbulence of the 70s, and the social and political changes of today.
