The profile of Library and Information Science at the Department of Cultural Sciences foregrounds research into informational aspects and conditions of digital culture as well as on information literacy and it also includes research into various aspects of information politics. Ongoing projects at the division focus on changes in scholarly communication processes, on the role of collaboration and self-publishing in online environments, on the increasingly blurred distinction between consumers and producers of information in these environments as well as on questions regarding people's evaluation and authority of information sources. A strong interest in expressions of informational practices ties the various projects together.
