About the Department of Gender Studies
The Deparment of Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary department under the Social Science Faculty at Lund University. Currently we are six senior researches and lecturers, of whom two are professors and two are associate professors. At the department we have three PhD students and two post docs. Every year in all almost 500 students attend ours courses.
The institutional history of the department started in 1978 with the foundation of the Association for women researches and of women’s studies. We have a bachelor degree in gender studies since 1999 and initiated our PhD program in 2006. We got our first professorship in 2000.
The research at the department is cutting edge in the fields of feminist theory, postcolonial studies, LGBTQ/queer studies, development studies as well as feminist technoscience studies.
