John Ehde, (1962) studied for Professor Asfer Lund Christiansen in Aarhus and took his diploma in 1984. His debut concert was held in Copenhagen in 1987 and later on he continued his studies in Vienna. During this time he played in the orchestra at Wiener Staatsoper and in Wiener Philharmoniker. After 10 years as a solo cellist in the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the base for John Ehde's versatile work is now in Copenhagen. LINensemble were nominated for the Nordic Council's Music Award in 2005. The cooperation with the pianist Carl-Axel Dominique means performances of both new as well as less well-known music by inspiring composers such as Yngve Sköld, Delius, Alkan, Tommie Haglund and Percy Grainger.
Since 2006, John Ehde has taught cello at Malmö Academy of Music. He is also an active conductor, including for popular children and family concerts where he performs as a soloist, presenter and conductor. John Ehde also has conducting tasks at, among others, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He's been on tour as a soloist and chamber musician in large parts of Europe and in Canada, Singapore, Vietnam, China and Hong Kong and he appears frequently on CD, such as Caprice among others.
