Mattias Hjorth
Lecturer in jazz/improvisation ensamble, double bass.
Since the autumn term of 2009, Mattias has been the course director for the Jazz Specialisation, Performance Programme.
He was born in 1969 and raised in Lidköping. Since graduating from the IE-programme in Malmö in 1996, he has been working as a professional freelance musician and as a pedagogue with positions of employment at the music course at Fridhems Folk High School and at Malmö Academy of Music.
As a musician Mattias is one of the region's most sought-after jazz bass players and through the years he has played with most of the big names within Swedish jazz with gigs and tours in Sweden as well as the rest of Europe. Lately he has been seen more often in constellations connected to the musician's collective Kopasetic Productions.
Mattias is a regular member of the groups Plunge, Loic Dequidt Trio/Quartet, Cennet Jönsson Quartet, Triple Bass Fantasy and Ljungkvist/Hjorth Duo.
