The general objective of WP1 is to study the effect of soil biodiversity at the various land use intensities on nutrient dynamics. The general hypothesis is that the driver intensification/extensification will affect the nutrient balance and nutrient retention and that climate change-induced changes in rainfall patterns will change soil biodiversity and soil nutrient dynamics. This information is needed to get a comprehensive evaluation of the mitigation potential of proposed changes in land use for soil fertility.
Task 1.1 Nutrient dynamics as affected by land use
Task 1.2 Climate change affecting biodiversity and nutrient dynamics
Task 1.3 Mechanistic understanding of the biodiversity-ecosystem functioning
