Simone Schopper
I was always fascinated by nature and deeply interested in how it is
built up. That made it easy to choose an undergraduate and later
postgraduate program in molecular biology. I have worked with model
organisms at different evolutionary levels and enjoy exploring these
environments of different complexity. What characterizes my work so far
is its focus on mainly protein studies and the aim to identify networks
in the respective system. My current research investigates signaling
mechanisms in the plant cell – as described on the group page. It spans
from studies of components in Ca2+ signaling and their plasticity to
MAPK signaling and its metabolism linkage. I find it fun to always learn
new techniques and get challenged by new scientific questions and ideas.
I
am involved in teaching (MOBA01, BIOB01 and others) and engage in
departmental and faculty committees as well as public science activities.
In
my free time I like to be outdoors with friends, travel and do sports.
