Social Innovation in a Digital Context

2012-06-27

Social Innovation in a Digital Context is an academic scholarship program focused on the relationship between digital technology and social and political change, and how social and digital innovators can harness this relationship to build better societies.

Carried out by Lund University on behalf of the Swedish Institute, the program is designed to support social and digital innovators from the Middle East and North Africa to pursue original work in the field of new media and social and political change that can benefit their respective societies. For the initial intake, participation is by invitation only, and limited to 15 participants.

For the first six months of the program, participants gather in Lund to participate in seminars, pursue independent work, and contribute to on-going research at Lund University. With access to a common workspace, participants are encouraged build collaborative networks— both with others in the program and with the wider academic community at Lund University.

For the second half of the program, participants return to their home countries to pursue their project work in a local context, with regular assistance from Lund University. At the end of the year, the participants meet again in Lund for a follow-up conference. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a program diploma from Lund University.
