The CHE Excellent ranking 2010 assign "stars" to departments that do particularly well in a number of different critera. These are e.g. publications, citations, outstandig researchers (Nobel prize winners, Fields Medalists, natural sciences only), Marie Curie programmes, offering of an Erasmus Mundus master's course, teaching staff mobility, student mobility and ERC grants. In addition, extensive evaluations from master- and PhD-students were included and here Biology at Lund University was ranked as the seventh best in Europe!
