Post Graduate Education

The Malmö Academy of Music offers research programmes in both Music Education and Artistic Research in Music. The programmes are four years in length and on their successful completion, a Doctoral Degree is awarded.

Music Education as a field of research is cross-disciplinary by nature and involves the study of all forms of music learning.

The Research Programme in Music Education aims to provide students with a comprehensive academic education which can also be seen as preparatory for carrying out tasks in society where knowledge of music education as a scholarly discipline is of value.

The Artistic Research Programme is based on artistic knowledge and understanding and artistic work.

The focus of this programme is placed on individual artistic development with the aim being to develop knowledge and understanding of artistic issues.

It also aims to allow students to reach a deepened artistic maturity and awareness as well as the ability to reflect on and communicate this.
