Monstrosity & Humanity: Paré, Deleuze and Teratological Traditions in French Philosophy

What happens when man tries to define himself by way of the monster? Can any human nature be discerned by studying the inhuman and the unnatural? This dissertation considers these questions by depicting how French philosophers have involved themselves with the science of anomalies and deformations, teratology.
