Maria Hjorth - vocalist and pedagogue with a great broadness of genre and a genuine interest for vocals – and the music's ways of expression in different styles. Since her vocal pedagogue degree in 1995, she has alternated the classical vocals with jazz, folk music and improvisation. Other studies have been completed at the Royal College of Music, London (Concert Singing Course: diploma) and at Malungs Folkhögskola, (Popular Song).

From 1999-2002 she was employed by the Royal Opera Choir, Stockholm and the Malmö Opera Choir. She has participated in Turandot, Aida, Don Carlos, La Traviata, Carmen and others.
Since then she has freelanced as a vocalist in various productions. Church music compositions, Duke Ellington's "Sacred Concerts", children's productions - Musik i Syd, the vocal group Gemma (medieval music on the voices), free improvisation with computer (project with the composer Stefan Klaverdal) and more. She is currently working on "Gershwin tribute" – performed with the duo "Ad Lib" - vocals and double bass.
