Since his graduation in 1991 from Malmö Academy of Music, Jan Lundgren has developed into becoming one of the worlds most demanded jazz pianists. His trio with Mattias Svensson and now also Zoltan Csörsz, had their break through in 1997 with the album "Swedish Standards”, which also reached the pop lists. The album “European Standards” came in the spring of 2009. Jan has, on albums and in concerts, worked with performers such as Richard Galliano, Paolo Fresu, Johnny Griffin, Lars Danielsson, Joe LaBarbera, Lee Konitz and Georg Riedel. He makes approximately 100-120 concerts per year, half of which are done abroad. Jan has a record contract with German ACT Records, where also other Swedish artists like Nils Landgren and Ulf Wakenius are. Since 1994 he’s made around 30 albums in his own name and participated on over 100. In 2007 he, as the first and only Nordic jazz pianist, was appointed “Steinway Artist”.
Jan Lundgren has worked as an instructor in Piano/Ear Training at Malmö Academy of Music since 1991.
