Mats Paulson was trained at Malmö Academy of Music, where he in 1985 graduated as a music teacher G/G, majoring in piano and with a vocals deepening. He’s also studied choral- and orchestra conducting for, among others, Professor Dan-Olof Stenlund at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.
Mats Paulson is an instructor on the Church Music Programme and the Music Teacher’s Programme, in choral conducting/choral vocals, ensemble and score since 1994, and he’s a conductor for the Academy’s chamber chorus. He’s alson an instructor in conducting/ensemble at Sundsgårdens Folkhögskola’s Music Programme, since 1998. In 1985-2007 he worked as a music pedagogue at Musikskolan/Dunkers Cultural House in Helsingborg. Mats has also been hired as a teacher at different summer courses in choral conducting with, among others, Professor Stefan Parkman and Professor Dan-Olof Stenlund in the direction of Sveriges Körförbund, i cooperation with Uppsala University’s Choral Centre and the Southern Choral Centre.
During the years 1998-2000 he held the position as choirmaster at Malmö Opera and Music Theatre. He also works as a conductor and artistic leader of the Helsinborg Concert Hall Choire since the autumn of 1990, and he was the head of Lund Student Vocalists in 2000-2007.
Mats Paulson also works as a freelance conductor and he’s made productions with the symphony orchestras in Malmö and Helsingborg, Malmö Opera Orchestra, the Tonica Orchestra, Capella Lundensis and Kullabygdens Symphony Orchestra. He’s also been incharge of the music and conducting of a number of musical performances in Sweden and Denmark, with such productions as Les Miserables, My fair lady, Fiddler on the roof, Me and my girl, Guys and Dolls. Mats Paulson has collaborated with artists such as Helen Sjöholm, Jan Malmsjö, Marianne Mörck, Ola Salo, Tommy Körberg, Claes Malmberg and Mikael Samuelson.
