Jette Knudsen, Ph.D., Docent

I was born 1961 in Strib, Denmark. I studied biology at Aarhus University, Denmark (1980-88) and got my PhD in Chemical Ecology at Gothenburg University, Sweden (1990-1993) on the thesis ”Floral scent and pollination at different systematic levels”. I worked as researcher at the National Environmental Research Institute Kalö, Denmark (1993-1995), and as post doc at Aarhus University positioned in Ecaudor (1995-1997). I returned to Gothenburg University as associate professor (1997-2002) and was appointed Docent in plant ecology there (2001). Since late 2005 I have been affiliated with the pheromone group at Lund University and with Gotland University.

My research interest concerns chemical composition, function, and evolution of floral scent. Most of my studies have been and still are concerned with plants and pollinators in the Neotropics and Africa. Ongoing projects are:

I have taught various aspects of plant reproductive biology, systematics, morphology, physiology, geography and ecology, faunistics, chemical ecology, as well as at several field courses in Africa and South America. I have supervised one PhD student and several bachelor and master students.
