The general objective of WP2 is to study the effect of soil biodiversity at the various land use intensities on gas exchange soil ó atmosphere. The general hypothesis is that the driver intensification/extensification will affect the exchange of CO2, CH4, and N2O between biosphere and atmosphere. There is no clear picture of the role of soil biodiversity in the responses of gas exchange to alterations in soil management intensity. This information is needed to get a comprehensive evaluation of the mitigation potential of proposed changes in land use for greenhouse gas production.
Task 2.1 Land use change versus soil organic matter
Task 2.2 Land use intensity and gas exchange in a changed climate
Task 2.3 Soil biodiversity and gas exchange at different land use intensity
Task 2.4 Carbon dynamics at different farming practices
