The general objective of WP3 is to to determine the relation between land use (agriculture, biofuel production or nature), soil biodiversity and the control of pests and invasive species. The general hypothesis is that a major consequence of reducing plant and soil microbial diversity is larger vulnerability of crops and natural ecosystems to attack by pests and pathogens and enhanced dominance of exotic invasive weeds. The results of WP3 will help to assess costs and benefits of soil biodiversity for plague control in production and natural ecosystems in Europe.
Task 3.1 Determine the influence of land use on control pests and invasive weeds
Task 3.2 Determine the relation between soil biodiversity and pest control
Task 3.3 Determine the relation between soil biodiversity and control of exotic weeds
