The general objective of WP5 is to value ecosystem services provided by soil biodiversity in terms of farmers’ opportunity costs of increasing the supply of a particular service, the perceived benefits to society and the motivation for government intervention and potentially suitable policy responses. The general hypothesis is that soil ecosystem services have economic value which may play a role in determining farmers’ opportunity costs of increasing the supply of particular soil biodiversity-related ecosystem services. The results of this WP will be used for the general synthesis in WP6.
