
Anna finished her PhD in November 2003 with a thesis titled "Superior underwater vision in humans". She investigated how children in human tribes of sea nomads in Southeast Asia manage to see better underwater than European children. She also worked with a project concerning the eyes of the cuttlefish Watasenia scintillans and a project about the vision of nocturnal bees in Panama.
