What is space? How do we know where we are and how to get to a desired place? And how do we decide that we are where we are? My approach to answering these questions ranges from theoretical modelling, experimental studies on a variety of species (humans, rodents, pigeons, tits, corvids, moth) and Kantian philosophy. Being interdisciplinary throughout my studies with background in physics, psychology and neuroethology the post-doc now at Lund University is a perfect place to investigate these questions.
The model species here will be the zebrafinch and the focus is on behavioural studies of orientation and navigation by use of magnetic field information. It nicely ties in with my passion of doing orienteering sports. Trust your senses and a compass, never listen to a GPS.
